A Fun Treat For Your Pups
Give Your Pups A Treat To Howl About!
It wasn't a full moon on the rise, it was our next homeschool unit study for Halloween-
WEREWOLVES!
While in the midst of planning a "sca-hairy" lesson plan, all themed upon the mythical werewolves, I just had to add a sweet kitchen creation for my kids to create- and one they would be sure to howl about!
Shape Shifting
A few other options came to mind at first, but what really sunk its claws into me was the idea of a themed waffle treat. The transformation from waffle to werewolf, I knew was going to be tricky, but I was up for the challenge and prepared myself for a possible flop just in case.
With a few ingredients- and handy toothpicks-we were able to witness the fantastic shape shifting take place! What emerged was not only a creation reminiscent of a werewolf, but a delicious and festive treat worth sharing!
So get your fangs ready to sink into a sweet treat to devour!
Werewolf Waffles
Here's What You'll Need:
Waffle Mix
Oil
Chocolate Bar
Brown Candy Melts
Mini Malted Milk Balls
Candy Eyes
Fresh or Frozen
Strawberries (optional)
Toothpicks
Waffle Iron
Let's Make It:
Step 1: Preheat the waffle iron.
Step 2: Mix the waffle batter according to the
directions on the box.
Step 3: Prepare the waffles in the waffle iron. Once done cut them into quarters.
Step 4: Stack one waffle on top of another. Curve and shape the top waffle by pulling in the corners. Insert toothpicks through the corners of both waffles to keep the curved shape. Insert a toothpick into the open cavity (mouth) of the waffle in order to keep it
opened.
Step 5: Pour candy melts into a microwave
safe bowl. Heat until melted. Carefully remove from the microwave.
Step 6: Spread the melted chocolates over the top of the waffle and along the bottom sides.
Step 7: Add the details. Add a malted milk ball for a nose at the point of the waffle. Add the candy eyes. Cut small bits of chocolate off of the chocolate bar and add for the ears.
Step 8: Place the werewolf waffle into the freezer for 3 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.
Step 9: Shave the chocolate bar. Use a fruit peeler to shave off bits of chocolate. Set aside.
Step 10: Remove the werewolf waffles from the freezer. Sprinkle the shaved chocolate onto the top and along the sides of the waffles. Remove all the toothpicks.
Step 11: As an option, you could serve with fresh or frozen strawberries by adding a scoop inside the werewolf's mouth.
