I'm In Love!
I don't often take time to indulge in spa treatments, or lengthy at-home methods to keeping my beautiful glow, as I am a simple kinda' gal, who would rather be working my hands than pampering them.
Being too, that I have sensitive skin and sense of smell, most items I may have considered from the shelves, I turn away from because their fragrances and ingredients are too strong.
So simple I happily remain.
Which is why this simple and quick homemade sugar scrub had me impressed, and in love!
As a homeschool mom, frequently found in the deep researches of our next learning topic, I'm always on the look-out for ideas and creations that spark our learning, and immerse us further on our weekly studies. We love creating in the kitchen together, and have made some spectacular kitchen creations in the past, edible and non-edible creations. So to keep with our weekly time spent in the kitchen, I wanted to make something dealing with our latest topic, sugar.
While the obvious choices were some type of sweet treat, I decided to mix things up a bit, and create something using sugar that focused on health and wellness-
Sugar Scrub.
My kids were curious and intrigued, and once explained, they were mixing, creating, and using their very own sugar scrub.
As an added bonus, introducing them to this all-natural sugar scrub, opened up discussion on additional topics; exfoliation, pores, dead skin cells...
While also showing more helpful uses for sugar, beyond what we most commonly use it for.
Yes, Sugar Scrub has me in love;
smooth, soft hands AND engaging learning...
That's sweet!
Gather these few simple ingredients to get creating your very own sweet creation.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Your Choice Of Sugar (Granulated/Turbinado/Brown Sugar)
Need help selecting your sugar? See HERE.*
Coconut Oil
Jar With Lid
Optional:
Essential Oil Scent Of Your Choice
LET'S MAKE IT:
Step 1: In a small bowl, stir together 1/2 cup of coconut oil with roughly
1/4 cup of your selected type of sugar.
Note: We used granulated sugar for one scrub, and turbinado cane sugar for the other scrub. If you are looking for the least abrasive scrub use brown sugar. Granulated sugar is gentle and effective, and the organic sugar will be the most coarse.
Step 2: Add desired drops of essential oil selection to the mixture. Stir together.
Step 3: Pour and scoop the scrub into a jar, then seal the jar with the lid.
THAT'S ALL!
TO USE:
Spoon out a small scoop onto your hands, or other rough patch of skin like the elbows or heels, then rub in the scrub until the sugar starts to dissolve. Rinse the scrub away with warm water, then towel dry.
Rest Easy!
Sugar Scrubs are mild and safe to use on the body. They are useful for extremely dry, or rough patches of skin to gently exfoliate and wipe away dead skin cells.
I was quite pleased with the results after using our simple recipe on my sensitive skin, and am keeping it around as we head into the harsher winter weather.
