The Mummies Are Coming...
And They Are In Need Of A Snack!
Halloween is inching its way closer and so are the treats. We have made a number of Halloween snacks and treats throughout our years of homeschooling, but Mummy Munch is my new favorite! With each thematic unit, one of the favored activities we do, are our kitchen creations. My kids love to mix and create in the kitchen, and this treat had them tossing in ingredients like mad scientists, which is just the fun and ease I was after. What was even better than the fun, was the delicious and festive treat that came alive once the spoons were laid to rest.
Let's Unravel This Recipe
What I love about this recipe is that my kids got to take charge and have fun while working as a team. It's was so easy to throw together, and doesn't require a lot of time or accuracy, which gave us all a well deserved brain break.
So roll up your linens and let's prepare for an easy, and dangerously tasty, mummy themed treat!

Mummy Munch
Here's what you'll need:
1 Bag of Marshmallows
1 Bag of White Candy Melts
Vanilla Creme Wafers
White Chocolate Chips
Shortbread Cookies
Vanilla Wafer Cookies
Rice Krispies Cereal
Candy Eyes (optional)
2 Oreos (optional)
Parchment Paper
Let's Make It!
Step 1: Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Step 2: Prep the ingredients. Crush up the Vanilla Wafers, Creme Vanilla Wafers, and the Shortbread cookies, roughly 1 cup each.
Measure out roughly 1 cup of Rice Krispies and Chocolate Chips.
Step 3: Place all the marshmallows in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the marshmallows for a minute. Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave.
Step 4: Add and mix all the ingredients in the bowl, but the candy melts.
Step 5: Pour out the mixture onto the prepared sheet. Spread and even it out across the sheet as best you can (it's really sticky!).
Step 6: Place the candy melts into a microwave safe bowl. Heat until melted and carefully remove from the microwave. Spoon the melted candies onto the top of the mixture and spread to cover the top.
Step 7: Allow the candy to cool and set up. Chill if desired, to speed up the set time.
Step 8: Once the candy has hardened on top of the mixture, use a pizza cutter to cut strips of the munch to look like bandages.
Step 9: To serve, twist open 2 Oreo cookies and place cream side up onto a platter. Add the candy eyes to the center of the Oreos. Place the mummy munch strips around the eyes and platter to resemble a mummy.
ENJOY!
