These Treats Are A Masterpiece!
Fun, Beauty, And Ease...
A True "SNACKER"-piece!
Beginning the plans for our homeschool study on Leonardo Da Vinci had my eyes growing wide. I absolutely love art, and am greatly inspired by all the greats. Not to mention, when searching for a topic to cover, Da Vinci encompasses it all- Scientist; Engineer; Musician; Inventor; Architect; Sculptor; Mathematician; Artist- talk about an inspiration!
Budding Artists
Although this quick and easy treat doesn't come close to Da Vinci's works, it was still remarkable in the way that it had my kids mixing colors and creating like wild something that spoke to them- even if it was only speaking to their bellies.
So gather your little artists, and share in the joy of making this great kitchen creation together, as you may be cultivating the next Leonardo Da Vinci!

Artists' Delights
What You'll Need:
1 Can of vanilla frosting
Pretzel Rods
Sugar cookie dough
Food coloring
Condiment cups
Parchment paper
Let's Make It:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350*.
Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare or use ready made
sugar cookie dough. (We used
Pillsbury break and bake cookie
dough).
Step 2: Shape the dough into small teardrop shapes to resemble the bristles on a paint brush.
If using the break and bake cookie dough, cut each cube in half and shape each half into the teardrop shape. Place the cookie dough shapes onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for approximately 9 minutes. Allow to cool once done.
Step 3: Spoon vanilla frosting into the desired amount of condiment cups. Ensure to save roughly a condiment cup amount of frosting to use for step 5.
Step 4: Enjoy adding various amounts of food coloring to each frosting cup and stir to achieve each desired color.
Step 5: Spread a small amount of frosting on the back side of each cookie. Attach the cookie to the end of a pretzel rod. Ensure the cookie is placed far enough along the pretzel end for support to avoid the cookie
bending or breaking.
Step 6: Display the "paint" cups and
the "paint brushes" together on a stand
or platter.
Step 7: To serve, enjoy choosing a "paint"
cup and "paint brush" to dip it in.
Enjoy!
