Feeling the Fatigue?
Is Your Home School Routine A Bit Tired?
You Aren't Alone!
Keeping little ones' attention and motivation while covering important core learning can be exhausting...
for us!
There have been more than a few restless nights trying to dream up new and creative ways to keep learning fresh and exciting. The self inflicted pressure of "something we haven't done before" plagues my ingenuity weekly.
That being said, I can't help but refresh the challenge daily! I chase after their widening eyes and smiles that I earn by showing them something new. It's a blessing and a curse at times that I wouldn't change for the world, because I know that where there is fun, there is learning.
But how do we keep producing original lesson plans?
I'VE GOT YOU COVERED!
Stay inspired.
Sounds simple, but it is imperative.
Know the sources in your life where you find inspiration.
Is it in reading? Nature? Music? Quiet?
So many times I get consumed with "doing" that I start to feel like I am just going through the motions. When this happens, my perspective changes from "getting to" to "having to". I love staying in the mindset of "I get to..." because it brings joy and ease to my work instead of stress and force. The ways I have found best to achieve this is by visiting my inspiration sources. For me, spending time in scripture and taking the kids on a field trip- however big or small- recharges my inspiration like nothing else. These things serve as a reminder that,
I get to educate my children like no one else can.
I get to spend every day with them.
I get to have fun and play games with them.
I get to be fulfilled by using my gifts.
I get to see the rewards of my labor each day.
Home school is definitely not for the faint of heart- it is for a heart that loves the adventure of growing and learning along side your child despite the challenges that come with it. So in times that the home school fatigue starts to set in, just take it as a friendly reminder that it's time to spark inspiration and not frustration.
...but some extra sleep wouldn't hurt.
